Canyon scene

Part of my ongoing train series which transforms the smokey plumes of vintage locomotives into playful clouds of color and swirl.

Embroidery is created by hand, directly onto the postcard, using French cotton embroidery thread and hand-dyed silk thread. 

The vintage postcard (postmarked in 1922) features a train entering a canyon railroad tunnel in the Northwest. It measures about 3.5"x5" and will be shipped in a complimentary floating frame to hold the free-flowing smoke threads in place. The threads can be rearranged as desired if reframed in the future. The piece will be signed and dated on the back in pencil.

Please note, as this is a vintage postcard, it features wear on all edges and corners, as shown in the photograph.
